Tuesday Shoesday: Oxblood Gold Metal Cap

Cue the shoe dreams. I am officially obsessed. Oxblood is clearly the color of fall 2012, seen on nails, corduroys, shoes, peplum tops, scarfs – it is everywhere. I am definitely on board and even more ready to be in a relationship after seeing these shoes.

Via Asos, the Dune Balmoral Metal Toe Cap Court Shoe ($170).

Come to me, you gorgeous shoe, you.

Tuesday Shoesday: Back to School

When we were in elementary school, my mom would take us back to school shopping. Every year on the list was 2 pairs of shoes. One for running around, and one nice pair for school picture day, choir concerts, Sunday church, and all the other occasions that the casual look wasn’t appropriate. I remember one year I was obsessed with this pair of lace up booties. I would wear them ALL the time with frilly socks and dresses. They looked relatively similar to these dandies from Zara.

Zara Flat Ankle Boot with Laces – $99

These days I would lose the frilly socks and dress and instead pair them with leggings, and a chambray button down.

For my more casual pair, back in the day it was all about Adidas Samba. Fast forward a few years (wink wink), this year’s back to school shopping would include these always classic Jack Purcell in white canvas.

Jack Purcell – $54

Even though I’m not going back to school this year, I can’t help but shop a little.

Tuesday Shoesday: Smoking Slippers

Everywhere we look right now, booties are getting credit for being this fall’s shoe of choice. We’ve already discussed those, so I think today we’ll let the smoking slipper shine today. Perfect for the transition of fall to summer, I mean who are we kidding it seems like it’s hot through September these days. Here are the ones I’m deciding between.

Steve Madden ‘Chaufur’ – $89

Vince Camuto ‘Lilliana 2’ – $97

BCBGeneration ‘Dashi’ – $88

I’m digging the prints, sparkles and studs for this style to add a little pop to your outfit.

Tuesday Shoesday: Pumped up Kicks

You know that song, Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People? I thought the lyrics were “run faster then your grandma” for the longest time. Apparently, that isn’t true. Anyways, when you want to make a pumped up statement reach for those platforms that are sky high. No, you can’t walk in them for more then 10 minutes. Yes, they look hot as hell.

At 5″ these Ann Taylor Dana Leather Platform Sandals are a force to be reckoned with. I’m picturing these babies with a pair of white jeans, a flowy top, and a smoky eye for a night out.

Gimme.

Tuesday Shoesday: Frye Flats

Last week I was dinking around downtown waiting for a friend to get off work before we heading to the stadium for a ballgame. I popped into Nordstrom to peruse for 20 minutes or so. After a pass through the shoe department, I decided to try on a pair of $59.95 bp. flats. The kind sales person brought back a pair of $149.95 Frye Carson flats, explaining that they didn’t have my size in the shoe I originally requested. I know we have all been there, the sales person brings out a shoe more than twice your budget and you cringe, try it on and politely say that it doesn’t fit (aka: I can’t afford these).

Lucky for the sales person, this tactic typically works on me and this time they got me again. They were comfortable, cute, versatile and are Frye, so they will last (see me justifying…). If you are in the market for some expensive, but very well made, leather flats – these are the ones. I went for the “silver multi”, but they come in black, cognac, violet, green, orange, white and bronze leather.

Tuesday Shoesday: TOMS Bimini

I know I already professed my love for boat shoes, but I’m back to profess it again to the new style of Toms. Called the Nautical Bimini, these babies have a non-slip sole, cute eyelets laced with a piece of rope, and are made of ripstop canvas. We all know it rains around here, and the classic Tom isn’t exactly meant for wet weather, but with the rubber sole on these, you won’t have to worry about soaking through the bottom.

I can’t help but love the striped interior as well. I think my favorite is the orange, simply because I have nothing like it in my closet.

Another win from Toms. If you don’t know their mantra, find out more here.

One for One.

Tuesday Shoesday: Ode to the Boat Shoe

The Sperry Top-Sider is said to have been invented after Paul Sperry wanted to create a shoe that mimicked the pads of his dog, who was adept at walking on wet surfaces without slipping. Now, although I don’t spend much time sailing myself, I can’t help but find myself slipping into my own pair of Topsider’s throughout the spring, summer, and fall when I want something that is a little more casual then the ballet flat and offers the comfort of a tennis shoe.  This navy/plaid version is prepster, which I find myself embracing for my work look this summer.

The bonus of being on sale due to Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale is tempting me even more.  Are you wearing boat shoes this summer?

Tuesday Shoesday: Ombre Espadrille

When I was 17, I went to Spain on a trip with my high school. I was obsessed with the effortless and gorgeous European style that my host family pulled off.  I purchased a pair of Espadrille shoes, and wore them the entire time I was there. When I got back, I stopped wearing them. They sat in my closest for years, they might even still be there. Anywhoosie, I love that the espadrille is coming to us for this summer. This Ralph Lauren Damian ombre style is really bringing me back to those Spain memories but with a fresh twist on the color.

What do you think? Will you be picking up a pair of espadrilles?
